As I grew into a young adult, a veil of anxiety grew as well. Despite having close friendships in college, the gloom of my social anxiety cast a cloud over my self-confidence, leaving me paralyzed when in the social spotlight.

Girls’ Night
Size- 36 x 72 in I Materials- Oil paint on masonite board I Date- 2024
During my teenage years, I made the realization that I wanted a female best friend. Someone to call my own person and someone to lean on. Someone to paint my nails with at 2:00 a.m. Someone to share my secrets with and for both of us to be comforted by the other’s company. But again, nothing really clicked.

Exhibited at Wheaton College’s Beard and Weil Gallery in 2024 for the Visual Arts Senior Seminar show, Sonder.
And here I am now as a 22-year-old. I immerse myself in a series of self-portraits to find comfort in who I am. Each stroke of the brush is a deliberate attempt at reflective exploration through my memories of longing and doubt. To heal my soul and find peace with my anxiety…
I am still working on that part.
